Edit Your Activity Files: Strip Fields, Change Sport & Device

FitConvert now edits FIT, TCX, and GPX files right in your browser — remove GPS or heart rate before sharing, fix the time, or change the sport and device.

After launching activity trimming last week, FitConvert has a whole set of editing features dropping today. The site has always converted workout files between formats — now it can edit them too, all in your browser with nothing uploaded to a server. Open any FIT or TCX file, click Edit my file, and you'll find four new tools.

Remove fields before sharing

Posting a run to social or sending a ride to a coach, but don't want every metric public? The field stripper removes individual data streams — GPS coordinates, heart rate, power, cadence, speed, elevation, or calories — while keeping everything else intact. Strip your location for a treadmill session you'd rather not geotag, or drop power data before sharing a file publicly.

Change the sport

Garmin Connect and Strava decide how to classify and display an activity based on the sport stored in the file. If your watch recorded a hike as a walk, or a handcycle ride as something generic, the sport changer overrides it — pick from dozens of types, applied to FIT and TCX output.

Change the device

Every FIT file carries a manufacturer and model in its header. The device changer lets you override it from the full FIT registry — 230+ brands and the complete Garmin model list — to control what Garmin Connect or Strava shows as the device behind the activity.

Adjust the date and time

Started an activity in the wrong time zone, or have a device whose clock had drifted? The time adjuster shifts every timestamp together — set a new start time or nudge by whole hours to line everything back up.

Free and Pro

Two of the editors are free for everyone: changing the sport and changing the device. Trimming, field stripping, and time adjustment are part of FitConvert Pro, which also unlocks trimming and batch editing across an entire folder of files. Plans start at $2.99/mo.
