Why convert TCX to GPX?
TCX files store rich workout data, but many mapping tools, route planners, and outdoor apps only accept GPX. If you have a TCX export from Garmin Connect, Polar Flow, or another training platform and want to view the route in Google Earth, Komoot, or AllTrails, converting to GPX is the way to go.
What data is preserved?
FitConvert carries over the core GPS data from your TCX file:
- GPS coordinates
- Elevation
- Timestamps
Because GPX focuses on geographic data rather than fitness metrics, the following fields are not included:
- Heart rate
- Cadence
- Speed
- Distance measurements
For most mapping and route-sharing use cases, this is exactly what you need.
How to convert with FitConvert
- Open FitConvert
- Upload your
.tcxfile using drag-and-drop or the file picker - Choose GPX as the target format
- Hit Convert
- Your
.gpxfile downloads immediately
The conversion runs entirely in your browser with no server uploads.
When to use TCX to FIT instead
If your goal is to import the workout into a Garmin device or keep all fitness metrics intact, converting to FIT is a better choice. FIT preserves heart rate, cadence, laps, and other data that GPX cannot store.
